Missions Ministry Highlight

In Spring of 2011 , College Church was part of a team that went to minister in Toluca, Mexico, helping with medical clinics and teaching in Bible Schools. It was a rich exchange and the youth who accompanied us at that time still talk about the experience. The pastors of the three churches became lifelong friends.

As Dr. Don and Lissa walked back to where they were staying in Toluca, a young boy approached Lissa and said to her, “Thank you for the Christmas presents.” At first Lissa didn’t think she heard him correctly. Then he said, “Your picture was in the box and I recognize you.” Lissa immediately realized that he was talking about the Operation Christmas Child box that she had filled. She grabbed Dr. Don and shared this amazing and miraculous moment.

Even when our gifts are as small as filling a box to bring love to a faraway place, God blesses our giving. Lissa was able to see firsthand the receiver of her gift, something most of us will never see, but that gift of love does not go unnoticed.

College Church continues to have a connection in Toluca, through Christian Abbot, who grew up in Florence Ma, and his family. God is still working in that area through our church and others. May we continue to serve as God leads.
